Young goalkeeper Jodie Whiteman has signed her first professional terms with FA Women’s Championship club Coventry United.
The 18-year-old joins Anna Wilcox and Katy Morris in signing on at Coventry United again for the new season.
Whiteman will look to challenge senior goalkeeper Oliver Clark for the number one jersey this season while manager Jay Bradford could opt to bring in another experienced goalkeeper to bolster her side’s ranks given the fact that club legend Sue Wood opted to hang up her boots earlier this summer following a wonderful career with The Red and Greens.
Coventry United announced news of Whiteman’s deal in a post on their official club Twitter account yesterday.

Whiteman has been on the fringes of the Coventry United first team this season. The player was named as an unused substitute by manager Bradford in four of the club’s fixtures in the FA Women’s Championship. She made her senior debut when she replaced experienced goalkeeper Wood in the 72nd minute of Coventry United’s 5-2 defeat to Durham at Maiden Castle in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
The youngster is being tipped for a bright future in the game with Whiteman having also recently represented the English Colleges squad.
Coventry United are expected to announce further details of contract extensions and new signings in the coming days and weeks as the club showcase the ‘class of 2021/2022’ via social media using some of the city’s landmarks.
