Young winger Fitzgerald signs new London City Lionesses deal

London City Lionesses have confirmed that young winger Lucy Fitzgerald has opted to sign a new contract with the club.

The 20-year-old midfielder made 17 appearances for The Pride in this season’s FA Women’s Championship, scoring in the club’s 2-0 home win over Coventry United in December.

London City Lionesses announced news of Fitzgerald’s new deal via their official club website this afternoon.

Fitzgerald has been on London City Lionesses’ books since the club were formed in 2019. The player is likely to make her 50th appearance for the Dartford-based club during the 2021/2022 campaign.

After signing her new deal, Fitzgerald said “I’m really excited to re-sign with London City Lionesses. We have grown a lot as a club and team last season since Mel (Phillips) and Cori (Daniels) have come in, and I can’t wait to push on even more.

“I want to keep learning and improving as a player and person, and I believe the club is the best place to help me do this. I just can’t wait to get going with the team.”

Fitzgerald becomes the sixth player to sign on again at London City Lionesses for next season. She joins Shae Yanez, Atlanta Primus, Lily Agg, Harley Bennett and Annie Rossier in signing new terms at Princes Park.
