Canadian international midfielder Rose joins Reading

Canadian international midfielder Deanne Rose has joined Reading according to reports on The Royals’ official website.

The 22-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the Berkshire club after recently leaving intercollegiate team the Florida Gators in the United States.

Rose spent four years with The Gators in which she combined football with her studies. The player moved to the American team shortly after being named the Canadian Under-17 Player of the Year for 2016.

After securing the services of the midfielder, Reading boss Kelly Chambers said “I am extremely excited to bring Deanne to Reading. Deanne is a player with so much raw ability and will bring something completely different to my team.

“At the age of 22, she already has over 50 caps for Canada, which is very impressive and it shows you the ability of the player we’ve secured.

“Deanne is extremely ambitious, and is a player that wants to take her game to the next level. She has the drive and determination to want to be the best, and I am so excited to work with her to support her ambitions alongside pushing the team to the next level.”

Rose has been capped by Canada at senior level on 58 occasions while she has netted 10 goals. The player started her nation’s most recent match against Great Britain in Japan yesterday.

The midfielder will report for training with her new club after the conclusion of the Olympic Games.
