England’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023 qualifier against North Macedonia will be played in Southampton.
The Football Association announced the news this morning via an official press release. The game will take place at St Mary’s Stadium on Friday 17 September 2021 and will kick-off at 7pm. New head coach Sarina Wiegman will take charge of the Lionesses for the very first time on the South Coast.
The game will be the first of England’s qualifying campaign for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia New Zealand 2023. The Lionesses have been drawn in a six-team group which also includes Austria, Latvia, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg.
Tickets for the match will go on sale to England Supporters Travel Club and My England Football members at 10am on Thursday before being put on general sale from midday on the following day. The game will provide England fans with the opportunity to watch their team live for the first time since November 2019 when 77,768 spectators witnessed the Lionesses’ 2-1 defeat to Germany in an international friendly at Wembley Stadium.
Following the North Macedonia game, Wiegman’s side will travel to Luxembourg before facing Northern Ireland at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 23 October in their second home qualifying match.
