Manchester City complete signing of former Everton winger Raso

Manchester City have completed the signing of former Everton winger Hayley Raso on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old Australian international moves to The Academy Stadium just 24 hours after confirming her Everton departure. The player has signed a two-year deal with The Cityzens.

Raso first moved to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League in early 2020. She initially joined Everton on a short term deal but she extended for an additional 12 months last summer. The midfielder featured in every league game for The Blue Girls last season, scoring five goals.

The player opted to move on for a fresh challenge upon the expiry of her deal at Walton Hall Park this summer and it has today been confirmed that Raso has joined Manchester City. FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the move via an official club press release issued by the club.

Speaking after completing her move to The Academy Stadium, Raso said “It feels amazing – I’m just so excited to be here at this huge Club.

“Having played in the WSL last season, I really liked the league – it’s very tough and competitive and being able to come to a team like City who are up there fighting for all the trophies and playing in the Champions League, it’s an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.

“Personally, I feel like I can fit in well with the team’s style of play – when I met with Gareth (Taylor), he spoke so highly of the Club and squad as a whole, and I knew that it was definitely the place I wanted to be.”

Raso could make her debut against former club Everton at Goodison Park on the opening day of the 2021/2022 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season.
