Durham are set to welcome fans to Maiden Castle for the very first time on Sunday afternoon when they face neighbours Newcastle United in a pre-season friendly.
The Wildcats have today announced news of the fixture as they complete their final preparations for the 2021/2022 FA Women’s Championship season which begins in just 10 days’ time.
Durham were still playing at their old home ground of New Ferens Park the last time that fans were permitted to attend matches back in February 2020. The club moved to the newly-developed Maiden Castle facility on the eve of last season and they played the full campaign behind-closed-doors as a result of the restrictions brought to elite sport by the Coronavirus pandemic.
The Wildcats are now looking forward to welcoming their fans back and those supporters are being handed the early opportunity of a return to the action with the club taking on FA Women’s National League North club Newcastle United this weekend.
Tickets for the match will be limited with fans being encouraged to buy in advance via the club’s official website. Admission is priced at £7 Adults, £5 Students and £3 Under-16s.
Durham begin the new FA Women’s Championship season with a home fixture against newly-promoted Watford on Sunday 29 August.
