Experienced Japanese international midfielder Hasegawa joins West Ham United

West Ham United have completed the signing of experienced Japanese international midfielder Yui Hasegawa on a two-year deal according to reports on the club’s official website.

The 24-year-old, who is on the verge of collecting her 50th senior cap for her country, joins The Hammers after most recently playing her football in Italy with AC Milan.

Hasegawa started out with Japanese club Nippon TV Beleza. She came through their youth ranks before spending seven years in the senior team. The midfielder is a five-time Nadeshiko Division 1 title winner with Nippon TV Beleza while she also won the AFC Women’s Club Championship with the Japanese club along with numerous domestic cups. The player will now be looking to add to her personal silverware collection with new club West Ham United.

After completing her move to The Chigwell Construction Stadium, Hasegawa said “My first impressions here at West Ham United are that the facilities are amazing and the girls seem like a great group. I’m really excited to get started here in England.

“The level of skill in this country is very high and it’s a really competitive league.

“I would describe myself as a very physical player. I like to get around the pitch and put pressure on my opponent. I hope I can have a successful time here at West Ham.”

Hasegawa becomes West Ham United manager Olli Harder’s ninth signing of the summer transfer window.
