Arsenal v Everton – Stat Attack

Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways after the 4-1 midweek defeat to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Women’s Champions League when they face Everton at Meadow Park on Sunday.

Both sides go into the match in decent form with The Gunners winning four Barclays FA Women’s Super League games on the bounce and Everton being victorious in their last two matches.

Ahead of the match, FAWSL Full-Time have been looking at the statistics surrounding the fixture provided to us by Opta. Here are four facts which relate to Arsenal’s meeting with Everton.

Arsenal have a near-faultless record against Everton

After losing their first Barclays FA Women’s Super League match against Everton in July 2011, Arsenal have won 13 out of 14 matches against The Blue Girls, winning the last 11 in a row. Everton’s record when travelling to face the North Londoners is poor with seven straight defeats and an aggregate score of 19-4.

Toni Duggan has a good goalscoring record against The Gunners

Everton striker Toni Duggan has scored seven Barclays FA Women’s Super League goals against Arsenal (four for Everton, three for Manchester City), the joint-most that any player has scored against The Gunners along with Ellen White. Duggan is Everton’s leading scorer against Arsenal in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League.

Everton must watch out when Little’s about

Arsenal midfielder Kim Little has scored five goals against Everton in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League. She likes facing Merseyside opposition with Liverpool being the only side which she has scored more Barclays FA Women’s Super League goals against (six).

Arsenal are tough opponents for any side in the WSL

Arsenal have won 12 of their last 13 Barclays FA Women’s Super League games, collecting 11 clean sheets in the process. They have also helped themselves to 39 goals, an average of three goals per game. For a third time in the last four seasons, Arsenal have won their opening four Barclays FA Women’s Super League matches, also doing so in 2018/2019 and 2020/2021. They went on to win their fifth match of the season in both of those two previous campaigns.

The Barclays FA Women’s Super League fixture between Arsenal and Everton at Meadow Park kicks-off at 3pm on Sunday and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League.
