Spurs keeper Heeps re-joins Blackburn Rovers on loan

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Eleanor Heeps has re-joined FA Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers on loan according to reports on Spurs’ official club website.

The 18-year-old previously spent time on loan at the Lancashire club during the first half of the season but she was recalled by Spurs boss Rehanne Skinner with Becky Spencer out injured.

With Spencer now fit and challenging Spurs’ current first-choice goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela for the jersey at The Hive, it has today been reported that youngster Heeps has resumed her loan spell at Blackburn Rovers. The teenager will spend the remainder of the season at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

In her initial spell with Blackburn Rovers, Heeps made two appearances. She made her debut in the 3-1 home victory over newly-promoted Watford in September before featuring in the 1-0 defeat at Lewes in October. Heeps will now battle Blackburn Rovers’ current goalkeeper Alex Brooks for minutes during the second half of the season.

Heeps could be included in the Blackburn Rovers squad this afternoon when they face FA Women’s Championship leaders Liverpool at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium. Gemma Donnelly’s side are looking to end a four-game winless streak in the league against Matt Beard’s high-flying Reds.
