Watford have confirmed that this afternoon’s FA Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at The Orbital Fasteners Stadium.
The country has been battered by heavy rain over the course of the weekend. The conditions saw a number of men’s non-league fixtures in the south postponed yesterday and Watford have this morning confirmed that their FA Women’s Championship fixture against London City Lionesses is off with the pitch at Kings Langley FC waterlogged.

A new date for the rearranged fixture will be agreed between the two clubs in due course. Given their hectic schedules, it seems likely that a new date will be much later in the season.
The fixture is the first in the FA Women’s Championship to be postponed this weekend due to weather. Bristol City’s home fixture against Coventry United was cancelled due to the away club’s previous voluntary liquidation issues while Lewes’ game against Durham was called-off at the end of last week as a result of COVID-19 cases in the away team’s camp. Blackburn Rovers’ home fixture against Liverpool has passed an early morning pitch inspection while there will be a 12.15pm inspection at Sunderland with their match against Crystal Palace in danger of being frozen off.
London City Lionesses had the opportunity to go second in the FA Women’s Championship table had the game at Watford have gone ahead.
