Bridgwater United closing in on sell-out for historic Manchester United tie

FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Bridgwater United are edging closer to recording a sell-out crowd for their historic Vitality Women’s FA Cup fourth round tie against top tier side Manchester United.

The Red Devils will visit Fairfax Park on Sunday 30 January with the tie scheduled to kick-off at 2pm.

Tickets for the match went on-sale last week with Bridgwater United confirming that more than 1,000 tickets were bought within the first 24 hours of sales. The Somerset club have now provided a further update with The Robins confirming that around 2,000 tickets have been snapped up.

The record attendance at Fairfax Park is 1,112 which was recorded 25 years ago for a match between Bridgwater Town and Taunton Town while Bridgwater United’s biggest crowd came under their previous identity of Yeovil Town when 1,897 attended their 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series fixture against Liverpool at Hush Park. Given Bridgwater United’s ticket sales for the Manchester United fixture, both attendance records will be smashed.

Bridgwater United caused the shock of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup’s third round when they saw off FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace at Fairfax Park. The Robins won the tie 1-0 to set up their showdown with Manchester United.
