Arsenal have completed the signing of Brazilian international defender Rafaelle Souza according to reports on The Gunners’ official website.
The 30-year-old moves to Meadow Park on a free transfer after recently leaving Chinese club Changchun Zhuoyue.
News of Rafaelle’s transfer to Arsenal comes as no major surprise with the player having recently been heavily linked with a move to North London. She becomes the third arrival at Meadow Park this month following the recent additions of Swedish forward Stina Blackstenius and Austrian defender Laura Wienroither.
Rafaelle has been capped by Brazil on 33 occasions at senior level. She was most recently a member of the Brazilian side which featured at the Olympic Games last summer. At club level, she can count the likes of Houston Dash and Palmeiras amongst her former clubs.
After completing her move to Arsenal, Rafaelle said “I’m so excited. I feel great to be here and to be playing in such a strong and competitive league. I feel like when I decided to come here, I was looking for a club where I can show my football and show my skills and be in the centre of the world. That’s my challenge, to show my football to the world.”
Rafaelle will be available for selection for Arsenal once she has received the necessary international clearance.
