PREVIEW: Liverpool v Charlton Athletic

Liverpool will be hoping to take another step towards promotion to the Barclays FA Women’s Super League when they face Charlton Athletic at Prenton Park on Sunday afternoon.

Matt Beard’s side need a maximum of eight points to secure their Barclays FA Women’s Super League return, although in reality, a couple more wins should do it.

Liverpool and Charlton Athletic met in the reverse fixture just last weekend. On that occasion, it was the Merseyside team that came out on top with a 1-0 win at The Oakwood thanks to Jas Matthews’ late goal.

The Reds go into their latest match without the services of long term absentees Rylee Foster and Rianna Dean, the latter has recently stepped up her recovery from injury on the training pitch. Defender Leighanne Robe is also expected to miss the match through injury.

Charlton Athletic continue to be without the services of defender Rachel Newborough who is out for the season while Vyan Sampson and Hollie Olding were notable absentees from The Addicks’ squad last weekend. Competition for places is very strong at Charlton Athletic this season and head coach Karen Hills has some tough decisions to make when naming her line-up.

The FA Women’s Championship fixture between Charlton Athletic and Liverpool kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday.
