Everton have completed the signing of Australian international midfielder Clare Wheeler according to reports on The Blue Girls’ official club website.
The 24-year-old has joined the Merseyside club on a loan deal from Danish top flight side Fortuna Hjørring.
On the international stage, Wheeler made her debut for Australia last year and she has become a regular for The CommBank Matildas, collecting 11 senior caps.
At club level, Wheeler spent last season with Fortuna Hjørring, making 21 appearances in the Danish Elitedivisionen in which she scored two goals. The midfielder was a Danish Women’s Cup winner with Fortuna Hjørring under the guidance of new Everton boss Brian Sørensen. The pair will now link-up together on Merseyside as they look to enjoy a successful campaign with their latest club.
After completing her loan move to Everton, Wheeler said “I’m ecstatic to join Everton. It’s an amazing move to an amazing club and I’m so happy.
“The opportunity came up to join on loan and work with Brian again and I didn’t think twice.
“It’s an amazing league here in England and it’s the best thing for me moving forward.
“I want to keep building on the success I had with Brian and hopefully I can do that at Everton.”
Wheeler becomes new Everton boss Sørensen’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window.
