PREVIEW: Arsenal v Aston Villa

Arsenal and Aston Villa will fight it out for a place in the last-four of this season’s FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup when they contest their quarter-final tie at The LV Bet Stadium in Boreham Wood on Thursday evening.

The Gunners are the competition’s most successful club with five trophy wins while opponents Aston Villa are rapidly becoming a force in the women’s game and will be targeting winning silverware of their own in the coming years.

Arsenal head coach Jonas Eidevall has no new injury concerns to contend with ahead of his side’s latest match. The Gunners remain without long-term absentees Vivianne Miedema and Beth Mead while Teyah Goldie is not yet fit to return. Youngster Gio Queiroz is cup-tied after previously representing Everton in the group stage.

Aston Villa head coach Carla Ward continues to be without long-term absentees Remi Allen, Meaghan Sargeant, Simone Magill, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Natasha Harding. Defender Danielle Turner is out with concussion while Lucy Staniforth (cup-tied) and Anna Patten (ineligible to face parent club) are also missing.

The FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup quarter-final tie between Arsenal and Aston Villa kicks-off at 7.45pm on Thursday evening. The fixture is subject to the pitch passing a 12pm inspection. Tickets remain on-sale and can be purchased by clicking here.
