Manchester City midfielder Hutchings joins Blackburn Rovers on dual-registration basis

Manchester City midfielder Annie Hutchings has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Blackburn Rovers on a dual-registration basis.

Blackburn Rovers announced news of the transfer via an update on their official club website this afternoon.

Hutchings has come through the academy system at Manchester City and she has forced her way onto the fringes of the first team squad this season. The player has been named amongst the Manchester City substitutes for six of their Barclays Women’s Super League matches while she made an appearance off the bench as The Cityzens defeated Blackburn Rovers in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup group stage back in October. Hutchings clearly made an impression upon Blackburn Rovers boss Gemma Donnelly with the Lancashire club bringing the player in for the remainder of the season.

The youngster is Blackburn Rovers’ only new arrival of the January transfer window. The club have focused on retaining the services of some of their talented players for the long-term with both Chloe Dixon and Nicola Worthington signing new contracts with the club last month.

Hutchings could make her debut for Blackburn Rovers when they host Bristol City at The Sir Tom Finney Stadium in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday.
