Chelsea manager Emma Hayes says that her side will face an incredibly tough fixture against an ever-improving Leicester City outfit when the two clubs meet at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday evening.
The Blues will be the heavy favourites to win the game, however, visitors Leicester City have taken 13 points from their 10 league fixtures since Christmas. The Foxes went into the mid-season break on zero points.
When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Chelsea boss Hayes acknowledged the fact that Leicester City are the most improved team in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
“There’s one thing for sure, Leicester City and their form are indicative of top five or top six,” Hayes said. “They are the most aggressive team in the league.
“They have shown in their performance against Arsenal and in their results in the second half of the season that they are a team not only fighting to stay in the league; I think they will stay in the league and they will continue to improve under Willie (Kirk). They are the most improved side in the WSL.”
Chelsea won the reverse fixture 8-0 at The King Power Stadium back in December. Hayes believes that Leicester City will be out to prove a point after that heavy defeat.
She said “They’re going to be wounded from that. I respect them immensely and for them, they will have learnt a lot since then. They will have a team, players and management that will want to prove differently from that result. I expect an incredibly difficult game.”
