Quartet to leave Aston Villa at the end of the season

Aston Villa have announced the news that four first team players will leave the club at the end of the season.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Villans this morning.

Aston Villa have revealed that Emily Gielnik, Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Ruesha Littlejohn are all leaving the club at the end of their current deals. Additionally, veteran forward Natasha Harding will not return to Aston Villa next season.

All four players have had injury problems this season. Boye-Hlorkah and Harding have had the most disrupted seasons of the quartet with the pair having sustained Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries during the campaign.

Midfielder Littlejohn has made 25 Barclays Women’s Super League appearances for Aston Villa over a two-year spell while Australian international forward Gielnik has featured 24 times in league competition for The Villans. Winger Boye-Hlorkah was heavily used by head coach Carla Ward last season while Harding has made just a handful of appearances after joining Aston Villa from Reading last summer.

Aston Villa have recorded their highest-ever finish of fifth place in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season. Head coach Ward will be looking to make some new additions this summer in a bid to continue the club’s steady growth.
