Manchester United announce departure of goalkeeper Ramsey

Manchester United have announced the news that goalkeeper Emily Ramsey has left the club following the expiry of her contract at the Leigh Sports Village.

The Red Devils announced the player’s departure via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

Ramsey is one of the most talented young keepers in the country, however, she has been able to make just six appearances for Manchester United in all competitions. The player has struggled for game time in her five years with the club.

With other goalkeepers being preferred, Ramsey has enjoyed a number of loan spells at rival clubs in recent seasons. She spent the second half of the 2019/2020 campaign with Sheffield United prior to the curtailment of the season due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The 22-year-old then joined West Ham United on an emergency loan deal in March 2021.

Ramsey has enjoyed getting a regular run of Barclays Women’s Super League games under her belt in the last two seasons. She was first-choice goalkeeper for Birmingham City in 2021/2022 before getting further game time whilst on loan at Everton last season.

The England international’s next career move is not yet known, however, she is likely to remain in the Barclays Women’s Super League in 2023/2024.
