Everton defender Weir joins Glasgow City on season-long loan

Everton defender Kenzie Weir has joined Scottish Women’s Premier League 1 club Glasgow City on a season-long loan deal.

News of the transfer was announced by Glasgow City via their official club website earlier today.

Weir has come through the youth ranks at Everton and she has forced her way onto the fringes of the first team. The player made her senior debut for The Blue Girls in a Vitality Women’s FA Cup tie at third tier club Huddersfield Town in January 2022. Weir signed her first professional contract with Everton last August.

As part of the youngster’s development, she spent time on loan at Barclays Women’s Championship club Lewes during the second half of last season. Weir made 10 appearances for The Rooks in all competitions.

After sealing her loan move to Glasgow City, Weir said “I’m very grateful for the opportunity to sign for Glasgow City. I know how much of a successful club this is and I can’t wait to get started here with all the staff and players.”

In her time with Glasgow City, Weir will look to help the club continue their excellent domestic record. The player will also get the opportunity to play UEFA Women’s Champions League football for the first time this season.
