London City Lionesses sign former Aston Villa midfielder Littlejohn

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of former Aston Villa midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn on a two-year deal.

FAWSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Pride this afternoon.

Littlejohn joins London City Lionesses on a free transfer after leaving former club Aston Villa at the end of last season. The Republic of Ireland international spent two seasons with The Villans in which she made 30 appearances for the club in all competitions. The midfielder will bring a wealth of experience to new club London City Lionesses this season.

After completing her move to Princes Park, Littlejohn said “I spoke to Carolina [Morace] and Nicola [Williams] and I could tell that they have a lot of ambition. When they went through their presentation, I liked their ideas and style. I feel like I can learn from them, which made my decision in the end.

“I had a few weeks off after the World Cup to rest and recover, so I haven’t had a normal pre-season but I think it’ll be okay. It’s just nice to get back in for training and being around the team.

“My ambition is to play lots of minutes and compete in the league, hopefully we can push at the top end of the table and fight for promotion.”

London City Lionesses have now signed two Barclays Women’s Super League players in the last 24 hours. The club also signed former Arsenal, Reading and Brighton & Hove Albion forward Danielle Carter yesterday.
