Everton have completed the signing of teenage goalkeeper Libby Hart ahead of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season.
The Blue Girls announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.
Hart joins Everton after being released by Birmingham City at the end of last season. The 18-year-old was a member of the Blues’ academy set-up. Hart never made a senior appearance for Birmingham City but she made the bench on a handful of occasions. The youngster was also formally on the books of Manchester City.
It seems likely that Hart will be used as Everton’s third-choice goalkeeper this season but she will earn vital experience working alongside Courtney Brosnan and Emily Ramsey on a daily basis.
After joining Everton, Hart said “It’s amazing to be here at Everton. To be at a big club and an environment full of international players, it’s incredible. My aim now is to get as much experience as I can.
“To get my first pro contract at 18 is an amazing feeling, but it’s just the start of the journey. I can’t wait to get going.”
Hart will be available for selection in Everton’s matchday squad for Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion at Walton Hall Park.
