Leicester City forward Siemsen to miss the start of the season with ankle injury

Leicester City forward Remy Siemsen will miss the first six weeks of the new Barclays Women’s Super League season with an ankle injury.

The Foxes manager Willie Kirk revealed news of the player’s injury when speaking to the media in a club press conference this afternoon.

Kirk has confirmed that Siemsen damaged ligaments in her ankle last week and she will not be available for selection until after the next international window.

Commenting on the forward’s injury, Kirk said “Remy Siemsen is probably out for six or seven weeks with an ankle ligament problem which she picked up last week.

“We’ve had it scanned in the last five or six days but she is obviously going to miss the start of the season which is a shame.”

While Leicester City will be without Siemsen for the first block of matches, Kirk believes that the club have more than enough attacking options to cover her absence.

He added “We’ve built plenty of depth in the window, especially in the forward areas. It is not going to affect our plans too much.”

Leicester City kick-off the new Barclays Women’s Super League season with a fixture against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Sunday afternoon.
