Spurs sign Aston Villa forward Hanson

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Aston Villa forward Kirsty Hanson on a long-term deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from the North Londoners this morning.

The 28-year-old joins Spurs off the back of a four-year spell with Aston Villa. Hanson initially joined The Villans on loan from Manchester United before the arrangement was made permanent. The forward has gone on to impress in her time at Villa Park and she was Aston Villa’s top scorer last season with 12 goals in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

On the international stage, Hanson has been capped by Scotland on 48 occasions while she has scored six goals for The Tartan Army.

After joining Spurs, Hanson said “I’m absolutely delighted, it’s an exciting time to be a part of this Club. I’m ready for a new challenge, and I’m always wanting to be better every single day. Martin [Ho], the Club, the staff, the players, are at such an exciting point – and I want to be a part of that.”

Hanson is Spurs’ third signing of the summer transfer window following the recent additions of Shekiera Martinez and Caitlin Dijkstra. The club are believed to have completed the majority of their transfer business ahead of the close season.
