Bristol City have completed the signing of teenage goalkeeper Hope McSheffrey on a permanent deal.
The Robins announced news of the transfer via a post on their official club website earlier today.
The 18-year-old stopper makes the move to Ashton Gate off the back of a spell in the academy system at Barclays Women’s Super League club Arsenal. McSheffrey impressed for The Gunners at Professional Game Academy League level and she has a bright future in the game.
The youngster’s senior experience to date has come in the FA Women’s National League system during dual-registration spells with Watford and Hashtag United.
On the international stage, McSheffrey has turned out for both England and Wales at various youth levels. She now looks set to represent the latter nation going forward, should opportunities arise.
After sealing her permanent move to Bristol City, McSheffrey said “It feels great to be a Robin, I’m really excited to see what the future holds here.
“The ambition to get promoted and do well this season mainly attracted me, and being part of this squad is an absolute pleasure.”
McSheffrey is Bristol City’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window. The club are likely to make further additions before the new season kicks-off.
