Hugely experienced Coventry United defender Chelsea Weston has agreed a new contract with the club for the coming season.
The 30-year-old Worcester-born defender joined Coventry United last summer ahead of the club’s debut campaign in the second tier. The player made seven appearances in the FA Women’s Championship, netting her only goal as Coventry United went down 2-1 to Lewes at the Butts Park Arena last September.
After teammate Amy Wathan signed on for the coming season earlier today, Coventry United announced Weston’s contract extension via their official club Twitter account this evening.

Defender Weston is one of the most experienced players in the entire Coventry United squad. She has enjoyed a 15-year senior career which has been spent playing in the top two tiers of the women’s game. The player started out at Birmingham City where she had two spells either side of a stint at Doncaster Rovers Belles. In 2016, Weston joined Notts County where she spent a season before enjoying two years in the second tier with London Bees.
Earlier in her career, Weston represented England at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 levels and she went to a FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup with The Young Lionesses back in 2008.
Coventry United’s young players can learn so much from Weston and manager Jay Bradford will be delighted to have secured her services for another year.
