The FIFA Women’s World Cup France 2019 will feature just one of the current Everton squad following the recent departure of New Zealand international Olivia Chance.
The Blue Girls’ sole representative at the tournament will be goalscoring midfielder Inessa Kaagman who has been named in The Netherlands’ 23-player squad.
Midfielder Kaagman made her senior debut for the Oranje earlier this year in an international friendly against South Africa and she will be hoping to make her competitive debut after receiving her first call-up to an international tournament.
Kaagman missed out on a place in the 2017 UEFA Women’s European Championship winning squad but will be hoping that the Dutch can replicate the same glory in France. The 23-year-old midfielder has previously played a part in The Netherlands’ 2014 UEFA Women’s Under-19 Championship winning squad, which has seen many of her teammates progress to feature at senior level. She will be looking to impress on the international stage and live
up to her nickname of ‘Iniesta’ which she shares with the Spanish international legend. She earned that comparison following her impressive displays for her former side Ajax.
Since joining Everton last year she has featured in nineteen games for The Blue Girls, scoring four goals along the way.
