WEEKLY UPDATE: Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club #18

Welcome to the latest weekly update from the Manchester City Women Official Supporters’ Club.

Well this is the last weekly column I will write before the big kick-off this weekend in the FA Women’s Super League.

Obviously, we are more than completely focused on Manchester City’s home opener against our neighbours from just outside Manchester (wink, wink) but in all honesty, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all fans a very successful and entertaining season whoever you support. We have one thing in common and that is that we all support women’s football and our aim is to see it continue to grow and prosper.

This week has seen us at the OSC attend an amazing event in Manchester to celebrate the launch of renowned City historian Dr Gary James’ latest book, Manchester City Women – an oral history. The book aims to capture the stories of all involved with the team since its inception in 1988. That included players, managers, the general community and the fans. I myself am extremely proud to have participated and am fortunate to have been included in the book.

The event, held at The Dancehouse theatre in Manchester, saw many former players invited along with original manager Neil Mather, current City number one Karen Bardsley and head of women’s football at the club Gavin Makel. It was a fantastic event and the book is now available to order through Gary, or Manchester City Women OSC.

Whichever game you are heading to this weekend I hope you enjoy it. We have a fantastic league to be proud of and we can all look forward to an amazing season ahead of us.
