PREVIEW: Aston Villa v Leicester City

Aston Villa will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the FA Women’s Championship table when Leicester City are the visitors to Boldmere on Saturday evening.

Gemma Davies’ side have enjoyed a fruitful start to the season and they will be hoping to take their momentum into the second half of the season.

Their Saturday evening meeting with Leicester City sees them face one of the improving sides in the division. Seven of The Foxes’ eight points have come from their last four league fixtures and Villa must be very cautious of the threat posed by Jonathan Morgan’s side.

Villa in great form themselves. They have won each of their last three league matches, although manager Davies will want her side to learn how to kill games off with all of those victories being by a single goal. Despite their dominance, The Claret and Blues have kept clean sheets in just a third of their nine matches indicating that Villa can be beaten if their opponents can keep things tight at the back.

At the other end of the pitch, Melissa Johnson is already in double figures for Villa this season after enjoying plenty of success in-front of goal. She was on the bench as her side won 2-1 at London Bees last weekend but could return to the side against Leicester City.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 7.30pm with cash turnstiles in operation.
