FA Women’s Super League title hopefuls Chelsea have completed the signing of Scotland international Jamie-Lee Napier from Scottish Women’s Premier League club Hibernian according to official club sources.
The 19-year-old winger left former club Hibs yesterday by mutual consent after it was revealed that she had received ‘an opportunity which she couldn’t turn down’.
It has now been announced that Napier has joined Emma Hayes’ Chelsea side with the player signing an initial 18-month deal at Kingsmeadow. The Scot will not be involved for her new club when The Blues travel to Liverpool on Sunday but she will officially link up with her new teammates after the Christmas break.
Napier had spent almost two years with former club Hibs after joining the Leith-based club from Celtic in January 2018. The winger, who can also operate at full-back, won two Scottish Women’s Premier League Cups and the SSE Scottish Women’s Cup during her time playing in green and white.
The player has represented Scotland at Under-19 level on several occasions and with Napier having recently received a first senior call-up, she will be hoping that her move to Kingsmeadow can boost her prospects of breaking into Shelley Kerr’s Scotland starting XI on a regular basis.
