Lewes have completed the signing of former Charlton Athletic forward Ellie Leek according to reports by The Rookettes’ official website.
The Rookettes resume their FA Women’s Championship campaign on Sunday following the mid-season break and manager Fran Alonso has been busy adding to his squad.
The Sussex club have announced the signing of former Wales youth international attacker Leek with the terms of her contract being left undisclosed. The player could go straight into the Lewes squad for their FA Women’s Championship fixture at fellow strugglers Blackburn Rovers on Sunday.
The 24-year-old started the season with Charlton Athletic following a one-year spell playing in the French Championship Division 2 with Le Havre. The forward netted five times in her short stint across the Channel.
The player started her career at Bristol Academy where she was a regular in the club’s reserve side before moving to the United States where she spent four years with university outfit Auburn Tigers.
Leek is comfortable in playing in a number of attacking roles and will bring some versatility with her to The Dripping Pan.
Lewes begin the second half of the season just two points above the relegation zone following a six-match losing streak in the FA Women’s Championship.
