Liverpool will be hoping to climb off the bottom of the FA Women’s Super League table by beating Manchester United at Prenton Park on Sunday.
The Reds returned to the relegation zone following their 1-0 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion which combined with Bristol City’s shock 1-0 victory at Manchester United, saw them switch places. Liverpool face Bristol City at the Stoke Gifford Stadium later this month.
Vicky Jepson’s side have struggled for goals all season with just three to their name in the FA Women’s Super League but Liverpool will again be able to call upon the services of new signing Rachel Furness who recently moved to Prenton Park from league rivals Reading. Last season’s top scorer Courtney Sweetman-Kirk could also be recalled to the starting line-up with The Reds having again fired blanks last weekend.
Manchester United manager Casey Stoney was hugely disappointed with her side’s performance against struggling Bristol City last weekend and has hinted on making changes for Sunday’s trip to Merseyside. Attackers Lizzie Arnot, Ella Toone, Jane Ross and Jess Sigsworth are some of the players who could come into contention for recalls.
The match is scheduled to kick-off at midday with admission available on the gate for both sets of supporters.
