FA Women’s Super League leaders Arsenal face title rivals Chelsea at a sold out Meadow Park on Sunday.
Victory for The Gunners against The Blues will move Joe Montemurro’s side seven points clear of their London rivals.
Ahead of the mouthwatering clash, we turn back the clock 12 months to when the pair last met in the league in Boreham Wood, a match which went against the form book.
Sunday 13 January 2019 – Arsenal 1 Chelsea 2
Chelsea gained revenge on Arsenal for their 5-0 hammering at Kingsmeadow earlier in the season with a surprise 2-1 victory at Meadow Park.
Scotland international Erin Cuthbert scored both goals as Emma Hayes’ side moved to within three points of the league summit.
Cuthbert headed The Blues ahead just before the half-hour mark when she connected with a Hannah Blundell cross.
The Scot doubled both her own and her side’s goal tally in the second half when she hit a stunning volley when few into the back of the net, that goal coming after Beth England had seen a goal disallowed for offside.
Vivianne Miedema pulled a goal back for the hosts to set up a frantic finish but Chelsea held on to end Arsenal’s five-match winning start to the season at home in the FA Women’s Super League.
The latest meeting at Meadow Park on Sunday will kick-off at 2pm.
