WOMEN’S FA CUP DRAW: Everton boss to face former club in fifth round

Everton manager Willie Kirk will take his current side to former club Bristol City in the fifth round of this season’s Women’s FA Cup.

The draw was broadcast live on Sportsday on the BBC News Channel this evening with the balls being pulled out of the hat by Sue Smith and Rachel Brown-Finnis.

In one of the ‘Ties of the Round’, Kirk’s Blue Girls face his former side Bristol City at the Stoke Gifford Stadium with the home side likely to be keen to gain the upper hand on the Scot.

Other notable ties see Manchester City host Ipswich Town, the lowest ranked side left in the competition while second tier club Lewes travel to Meadow Park to take on Arsenal. Third tier side Sunderland will be keen to put on a display when they host top flight outfit Birmingham City while Chelsea host Liverpool in one of just two ‘all FA Women’s Super League’ ties.

It is understood that Southampton Women and Crystal Palace will need to replay their abandoned fourth round tie on Sunday with the winners playing Brighton & Hove Albion at home in the fifth round.

Fifth round ties

Bristol City v Everton

Coventry United v Tottenham Hotspur

Leicester City v Reading

Southampton Women/Crystal Palace v Brighton & Hove Albion

Manchester City v Ipswich Town

Arsenal v Lewes

Sunderland v Birmingham City

Chelsea v Liverpool

The fifth round ties will be staged over the weekend of 15 and 16 February 2020.

The fourth round produced no shocks for our FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship clubs. Lewes needed penalties to see off lower division opposition in the form of Billericay Town while Aston Villa, Durham and the London Bees all lost by just the odd goal against top flight sides.

This season’s final will take place at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 9 May 2020 with tickets available to purchase online by clicking here.
