Chelsea’s cup clash with Liverpool switched to Monday

Chelsea and Liverpool have agreed to switch Sunday’s Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Kingsmeadow to Monday evening as reported by The Blues’ official website.

The FA Women’s Super League rivals were set to meet at 12.30pm on Sunday afternoon but the two clubs have come to an agreement to switch to date of the tie with Storm Dennis set to batter the United Kingdom over the course of the weekend.

The match will now kick-off at 7pm on Monday evening and all tickets already purchased for the tie will remain valid. Should fans no longer be able to attend the match, they are able to obtain a refund from the Stamford Bridge ticket office.

Chelsea find themselves in the Women’s FA Cup fifth round after defeating FA Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic 4-0 at The Oakwood last weekend. Liverpool also saw off second tier opposition with The Reds having beaten Blackburn Rovers 8-1 at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

The two clubs have already met in the FA Women’s Super League this season with Liverpool having held Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Prenton Park. Niamh Charles gave the home side an early lead but a Beth England goal helped Emma Hayes’ side to a share of the spoils.

The winners of Monday night’s tie will qualify for the quarter-finals and will be just two rounds away from a Wembley final.
