PREVIEW: Arsenal v Lewes

Arsenal will be looking to reach the quarter-finals of this season’s Women’s FA Cup when they take on second tier side Lewes in their rearranged fifth round tie at Meadow Park in Boreham Wood this afternoon.

The original tie was scheduled to take place last Sunday but was postponed due to safety concerns with Storm Dennis having battered the United Kingdom with heavy rain and gales.

Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro is unable to call upon attacking duo Kim Little and Beth Mead for this afternoon’s contest due to injury, otherwise, The Gunners are believed to have no new injury concerns to contend with. The North Londoners have an FA Women’s Continental League Cup final against Chelsea at The City Ground in Nottingham next weekend therefore manager Montemurro could opt to make changes to his squad against a Lewes side who have struggled in the FA Women’s Championship this season.

Lewes arrive at Meadow Park having failed to win any of their last 14 matches in all competitions in 90 minutes. Simon Parker’s side have been defeated in all of their last eight matches on the road and hopes will not be particularly high for an upset against the FA Women’s Super League champions.

The match is scheduled to kick-off at 1pm and will be screened live on the BBC Red Button and on FA Player.
