Arsenal have confirmed via their official website that midfielder Lia Walti is currently sidelined with a hamstring problem.
The 26-year-old Swiss international has not been seen in an Arsenal shirt since she featured for The Gunners in their 2-1 FA Women’s Continental League Cup semi-final victory over Manchester City at Meadow Park last month.
The Arsenal medical team have confirmed that Walti has pulled a hamstring and will be sidelined for a number of weeks, although the player is expected to return to action before the end of the season.
Arsenal fans will be hoping that Walti’s injury is not too bad with The Gunners set to compete in some big fixtures in the coming weeks. The midfielder will be absent from the squad as they contest the FA Women’s Continental League Cup final against Chelsea at The City Ground in Nottingham this weekend while next month’s fixtures see The Gunners face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Women’s FA Cup and Bristol City in the FA Women’s Super League before they stage the first leg of their huge UEFA Women’s Champions League tie against French club Paris Saint-Germain at Meadow Park. Joe Montemurro’s side also have another London derby as they travel to West Ham United for their second league fixture of the month.
Walti joins fellow midfielder Kim Little and forward Beth Mead in the treatment room at Meadow Park.
