Arsenal and Chelsea go into battle at The City Ground in Nottingham on Saturday evening as the pair contest the 2020 FA Women’s Continental League Cup final.
The Gunners are bidding to lift the trophy for a sixth time, extending their own tournament record while Emma Hayes’ Chelsea side make a first-ever appearance in the final of the competition.
Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro has injury headaches to contend with ahead of the match. Midfield duo Lia Walti and Kim Little and forward Beth Mead are all sidelined with injury. The Gunners boss could recall some of the players who were rested for their Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Lewes last weekend including Leah Williamson, Katie McCabe, Lisa Evans and Vivianne Miedema.
Chelsea arrive in Nottingham on the back of a thrilling 3-3 draw recorded in their FA Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester City last weekend. Manager Hayes could keep faith with the same starting XI who battled so valiantly at The Academy Stadium.
The Blues have come out on top against Arsenal on both occasions in which the two sides have met this season. Chelsea won 2-1 at Kingsmeadow in the FA Women’s Super League in October before hammering The Gunners 4-1 in the reverse fixture at Meadow Park last month.
The FA Women’s Continental League Cup final is scheduled to kick-off at 5.30pm on Saturday evening with tickets available to purchase by clicking here.
