PREVIEW: Arsenal v Manchester City

A re-run of Arsenal’s 2015 FA Women’s Super League 1 fixture against Manchester City at Meadow Park will be screened on the official Barclays FA Women’s Super League Facebook page this evening.

We go back to the morning of 9 August 2015 as we provide a comprehensive match preview ahead of the screening.

Arsenal go into tonight’s re-run on the back of four consecutive victories in all competitions. The Gunners were 3-1 winners over London Bees at The Hive in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup in their last match. Natalia Pablos netted twice for Pedro Martinez Losa’s side while Carla Humphrey was also on target. The North Londoners had won three of their four league fixtures in the 2015 FA Women’s Super League 1 prior to meeting Manchester City for the second time that season.

Manchester City made the trip to Boreham Wood on the back of a sequence of five consecutive victories in all competitions. They defeated Durham 5-0 in their latest match in the FA Women’s Continental Tyres Cup with Krystle Johnson and Nikita Parris both scoring braces. Nick Cushing’s side could move to within a point of opponents Arsenal with victory at Meadow Park.

The two sides previously met at The Academy Stadium in April 2015. On that occasion, Chioma Ubogagu netted the only goal of the game as Arsenal won 1-0. Jill Scott was sent-off early in the second half for the hosts.

Tonight’s re-run kicks-off at 7.45pm on the Barclays FA Women’s Super League Facebook page.
