Chelsea-bound midfielder Melanie Leupolz could have the opportunity to complete the 2019/2020 FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga season with current club Bayern Munich after the DFB, the German Football Association, agreed provisional plans for the competition to resume on 29 May.
The 26-year-old German international midfielder will move to Kingsmeadow on 1 July when her contract with Bayern Munich expires.
It was unknown whether the player would pull on a Bayern Munich shirt again before her scheduled departure with the FLYERALARM Frauen-Bundesliga currently suspended, however, the DFB have today announced provisional plans for the competition to resume on 29 May.
It is understood that should the German government give the plan the green light, all of Bayern Munich’s remaining six league games will be played within a 31-day window therefore midfielder Leupolz will be able to see out her final season in the German top flight before moving to the English game with Chelsea.
The Bayern Munich captain has featured in 14 of her side’s 16 league fixtures so far this season. Leupolz has contributed an impressive five goals in those matches. The player looks set to end her final season at the Grunwalder Stadion trophyless. Bayern Munich trail league leaders VfL Wolfsburg by eight points while they were dumped out of the Frauen-DFB Pokal by their title rivals.
