Former Manchester City and Manchester United pair Nikita Parris and Alex Greenwood are set to receive their first title-winners medals with Lyon with the European champions on the verge of being handed the Division 1 Feminine title according to reports by France 24.
Lyon are currently three points clear of nearest title rivals Paris Saint-Germain after 16 league matches played. The season has been prematurely ended upon the instruction of French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe who has banned professional sport in the country until at least September due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
It has now been reported that results in the Division 1 Feminine are set to stand with Lyon on the verge of being crowned for the 14th consecutive season.
Confirmation of Lyon’s title success will result in English exports Parris and Greenwood being crowned champions for the first time. The pair joined the French club last summer and have featured heavily for Jean-Luc Vasseur’s side. Former Manchester City ace Parris has played in all but one of Lyon’s league matches, scoring eight goals in the process while full-back Greenwood has made 11 appearances.
Parris has one top level title medal already to her name from her time at Manchester City while Lyon teammate Greenwood is set to be crowned a title-winner with a top flight club for the very first time. The duo won the Trophee des Championnes with Lyon in September but neither player featured in the match which ended in a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
