Former Liverpool and Reading defender Mandy van den Berg is looking for a new club after confirming her departure from Spanish side Valencia earlier today.
The 29-year-old Dutch international defender joined The Bats in 2018 after leaving Reading and she has enjoyed a two-and-a-half year spell at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna.
Injury has seen Van den Berg watch on from the sidelines for a large part of this season as the Spanish Primera Division side have struggled. Valencia picked up just 17 points from an available 63 as they slumped to second-bottom of the league table. The player has today taken to her Twitter account to confirm her departure while she thanked the club for what she has described as a ‘fantastic adventure’.

After spending the early days of her career with ADO Den Haag, Vittsjo GIK and LSK Kvinner FK, Van den Berg moved to England where she joined Liverpool. The defender spent the 2016 FA Women’s Super League 1 campaign with The Reds, helping the Merseyside club to a fifth place finish.
Van den Berg moved to Reading ahead of the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series season and she spent 12 months in Berkshire before leaving the club by mutual consent midway through the 2017/2018 campaign.
The player’s move to Valencia has seen her given the most game time in her career to date prior to her injury woes.
