Former Liverpool and Reading defender Mandy van den Berg has returned to the Eredivisie Vrouwen where she has signed for newly-crowned champions PSV.
The 29-year-old Dutch international became a free agent after her contract with Spanish club Valencia recently came to an end.
PSV have today revealed via their official website that Van den Berg has joined the club on a two-year deal ahead of their UEFA Women’s Champions League debut campaign in 2020/2021.
The defender has been playing her football in the Spanish top flight for the last two-and-a-half years, although she missed most of her final season with Valencia through injury as The Bats endured a difficult campaign in which they finished in 15th position in the Spanish Primera Division.
Van den Berg spent almost two years of her career playing in England. After winning the Norwegian Toppserien and Women’s Cup with LSK Kvinner in 2015, the player moved to Liverpool where she spent the 2016 season. Reading then signed the defender ahead of the 2017 FA Women’s Super League 1 Spring Series and Van Den Berg went on to spend 12 months with The Royals.
In December 2017, Van den Berg left Reading and she soon linked up with Spanish club Valencia where she went on to make almost a half-century of appearances. She will now return to the Dutch Eredivisie Vrouwen for the first time in eight years with latest club PSV.
