Rianna Dean has signed a new one-year contract at Tottenham Hotspur, with the option to extend for a further year according to reports on Spurs’ official website.
Dean has been the top scorer for Spurs since joining the club from Millwall Lionesses in 2018. Despite a late start through injury and early finish to her first Barclays FA Women’s Super League season, the striker has scored four goals in her first professional campaign, along with another six in domestic cup fixtures.
The forward scored her first Barclays FA Women’s Super League goal at the London Stadium in September as Spurs defeated West Ham United 2-0. She opened the scoring with a diving header as the North Londoners took all three points in their first of three wins over The Hammers this season. Dean scored in all three matches including a 96th-minute winner at The Hive in January. The England Under-21 international has also been scoring for her country with goals in both games in 2020.
The striker came through the academy at Arsenal, scoring 52 goals in 34 games for the Development Squad. She left in search of first team football and became the leading scoring for Millwall Lionesses the following season before joining Spurs.
In her first season at Spurs, Dean was named the FA Women’s Championship Player of the Month for October and
finished the campaign as the joint-second highest scoring player in the league.
After extending her deal, Dean told the Spurs media team “When committing my future to Spurs I never had any doubts, I’ve really enjoyed my time at the Club so far.
“I just want to help the team and club as much as I can, master the number nine position and be the best that I can be, I feel I can achieve that here at Spurs.”
