Manchester United forward Jess Sigsworth has signed a new contract with the club for the 2020/2021 season with an option to extend for a further year according to reports on The Red Devils’ official website.
The 25-year-old joined United when their senior side reformed in 2018 and has gone on to feature heavily for Casey Stoney’s side
Sigsworth has made 48 appearances for The Red Devils in all competitions, a record which can only be trumped by centre-back Millie Turner who has featured just once more. The forward brought her knowledge and experience to the club which she built during spells with the likes of Doncaster Rovers Belles and Notts County. Her qualities have helped aide United’s their transition from an FA Women’s Championship club to a Barclays FA Women’s Super League side.
Sigsworth played an integral role in her first season at the Leigh Sports Village. She picked up the Golden Boot for her 17 league goals as she lifted a second consecutive FA Women’s Championship title.
The fans’ favourite currently holds an astonishing 22 league goals which places her amongst the club’s top goalscorers. Sigsworth oozes quality and flair and continues impress from her position by scoring goals, creating assists and aiding the team’s overall success.
After signing her new deal, Sigsworth told official club media outlets
I love this club; as a kid growing up supporting Manchester United it was always a dream for me to one day be a part of its amazing history. Signing a new deal is a proud moment for me and I am really excited to continue my journey here. I just can’t wait to be back out there playing for the badge next season.
Sigsworth will continue to be a useful option for United boss Stoney as the club look to again push on in 2020/2021.
