Norwegian international attacker Lisa-Marie Utland is the latest player to leave Reading according to reports on The Royals’ official Twitter account.
The striker has spent just one season in England and she will now be returning to her homeland where she will be joining Rosenborg BK.
Utland scored seven goals in 17 appearances for Kelly Chambers’ side, helping the team achieve a fifth-place finish in the league and reach the quarter-finals of the FA Women’s Continental League Cup.
Utland joined Reading last September after two seasons playing her football in the Swedish top division with Rosengard BK. She helped the Malmo-based club to the Swedish Cup in 2018.
Reading had already seen eight players depart the club prior to the announcement of Utland’s transfer. The exit list has included the likes of Maz Pacheco, Sophie Howard, and Remi Allen to name just a few. We can expect many new arrivals at the Berkshire club this summer to plug the gaps that have been left by the departing personnel. If Reading are to compete with the more financially formidable teams around them again including the likes of Everton, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, then manager Chambers will need to find replacements of a very high calibre.
