Former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Lea Le Garrec has joined French top flight outfit FC Fleury 91 according to reports on their official website.
The 26-year-old Dreux-born midfield ace spent last season with The Seagulls after joining the club from French side Guingamp.
Le Garrec enjoyed a thoroughly impressive campaign in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League with Albion and manager Hope Powell was keen to retain her services but the player instead opted to return to her homeland.
It has today been revealed that the midfielder will turn out for French Division 1 Feminine side FC Fleury 91 next season. Les Essonniennes enjoyed a solid campaign in 2019/2020 which saw the club finish in seventh position in the league table and the signing of Le Garrec may help FC Fleury 91 move in the right direction in the coming season.
Only Aileen Whelan and Kayleigh Green made more Barclays FA Women’s Super League appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion last season than Le Garrec’s tally of 15. The French midfielder put in some dazzling displays which saw her quickly become something of a fans’ favourite on the South Coast. She scored her only goal in The Seagulls’ 3-0 victory over Birmingham City at The Amex Stadium in November.
Le Garrec’s season in England was her first spell playing overseas but she is now set to return her focus on matters in her homeland once again in a division which she knows very well.
