Former Liverpool and Reading defender Maz Pacheco has completed a move to West Ham United according to reports on The Hammers’ official website.
The 21-year-old Ormskirk-born full-back moves to Rush Green on a free transfer with the player having left former club Reading last month at the end of her contract with the Berkshire side.
Pacheco’s move to West Ham United sees the player link up with former mentor Matt Beard once again. The Hammers boss was in charge of Liverpool when he handed a youthful Pacheco her senior debut in an FA Women’s Super League 1 fixture against Sunderland in 2015.
The full-back left Liverpool in 2017 and enjoyed a successful year with Doncaster Rovers Belles before spending the last two years of her career with Reading. Pacheco made 25 appearances for The Royals in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League, although just nine of those outings came last season as the player often found herself on the bench.
The England Under-21 international will be keen for more minutes on the pitch at West Ham United and she should get that with new boss Beard clearly a big believer in her overall ability.
Pacheco becomes West Ham United’s second signing of the summer after Australian international goalkeeper Mackenzie Arnold joined the club yesterday.
