Former Chelsea academy graduate Lauren-Amie Allen kept a clean sheet on her long-awaited debut for latest club Thor / KA this afternoon.
The 24-year-old keeper joined the Icelandic side in May but she has had to be patient for the playing opportunities to come her way after starting the season as a back up to first choice keeper Harpa Johannsdottir.
Allen was only named as a substitute for Thor / KA’s first three matches of the season in the Icelandic Urvalsdeild league. Andri Hjorvar Albertsson’s side were in Women’s Milk Cup action against Keflavik at Thorsvollur last this afternoon and English keeper Allen was named in the starting XI for the first time.
Thor / KA won the match 1-0 thanks to a first half goal from midfielder Snaedis Osk Aoalsteinsdottir as they successfully moved into the next stage of the competition.
Allen’s move to Thor / KA sees the player represent her second club in Iceland. She spent last season with Inkasso League side Tindastoll who she joined in 2019. After coming through the Chelsea academy system, Allen represented The Blues’ local rivals Fulham for a short spell before spending three years with FA Women’s Championship club Crystal Palace. She left The Eagles last year prior to the start of her Icelandic adventure.
