Welsh international defender Ffion Morgan is the latest player to join Crystal Palace according to reports on The Eagles’ official website.
The 20-year-old full-back moves to Hayes Lane on a free transfer after leaving Crystal Palace’s FA Women’s Championship rivals Coventry United at the end of her contract.
Morgan joins former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Chloe Morgan and former Brighton & Hove Albion attacker Kate Natkiel in joining Crystal Palace this summer.
After starting her career at Welsh club Ammanford, defender Morgan spent time with Cardiff City before joining Coventry United ahead of their debut campaign in the FA Women’s Championship. She made 11 appearances in the second tier for the Warwickshire club as they finished the 2019/2020 campaign in 10th position.
Morgan brings international experience with her to South London with the player having been capped by Wales at senior level on nine occasions.
After Morgan’s move to Hayes Lane was confirmed, Palace boss Dean Davenport hailed the signing of the defender by telling the club’s official media channels “Ffion was one of the opposition players that stood out to us last year therefore, when the opportunity to sign her came up, the club knew it was one that they needed to make happen.
“Having someone arrive with her international pedigree will be a big bonus to the side on and off the pitch; a great statement signing.”
Morgan featured for Coventry United in their 3-2 victory over Crystal Palace at the Butts Park Arena in January.
